There was an issue that was at the forefront of Irish and British politics in the late 19th century. The author advocated for Irish independence in his journalistic work particularly in defending the Irish nationalist leader, Charles Stewart Parnell.
In the text Lady Chiltren was the higher education of women and also a member of the women association which is branch of the woman’s Liberal Federation. It votes for women sufferage. In 19th century british women did not receive full voting rights. The other prove that this play for politic reason is when Mrs. Cheveley intrigued with Mr. Robert about her success in politic by threating Mr. Robert’s secret.
In this case, Oscar Wilde is a supporter of nationalism Irish and British and wants to show or deliver his aspiration through this drama. So he hopes by this drama the government would appreciate his opinion (in organization) in that idealism, by making this play. So this text is represent to his aspiration in politic side.
